1. VR tuning
2. Speedbuster (which includes a camshaft sensor)

2 are re-branded by VRTuned and TMC, and sold by Flat6 and other tuning companies

VRtuned do them for $600 but in good old rip off UK they are £600

Do they leave any trace in ECU once removed?
There is no trace once it has been removed however if they suspect then I am sure if they delved very very deep they could find something, efficiency, for example. however, I suspect they would not go this deep unless you had other mods which made them suspicious.

The good thing is these engines have been out long enough and I have not seen any reports of this happening.

Well, the obvious is Cobb flashes the ECU and will defo leave a trace once removed. Again this is if they suspect and go looking.

In terms of performance, if I am being totally honest I have been totally underwhelmed by Cobb's OTS v208 map, so much so I have ordered the Flat6 1+ map, I also find the shifting on Cobb harsher than the Speedbuster but I guess that's down to more power/boost lower in the RPM's.

To me, Cobb and Speedbuster are pretty identical in terms of Butt Dyno and I would even go to say speed buster feels stronger at the top end.

My main reason for going cobb was because I wanted to give the flat6 1+ ago and then at some point go catless which will require stage 2.

Would be tempted but given the number of under bonnet connections I think I would want an expert nearby to install and remove it. Good buy for someone more mechanically competent I think.

Also a bit off-putting that the manual is so poorly written, aren’t these US made and marketed?

No it's a speedbuster which is marketed in use as VR Tuned.

Really easy to fit and would be more than happy to offer guidance or fit if near Oxfordshire/Birmingham.

But to be honest it's super easy to fit.

I could be interested if you drop the price a bit more.
Have seen them being sold on the .com forum for 250 USD.
(don't know how to send PM's here)
