SC does not give more performance it just gives an alternative way to access it. 20 second boost is the same as flooring it without the timer - same power and gear drops. Setting sport on the steering wheel = same as pressing the sport button. So if you want to save £800 you just dont add it.

Like all options everyone is different. If you want to minimse depreciation dont add lots of options.
S

5.3 secs Acceleration 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h)
5.1 secs Acceleration 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) with Sport Chrono Package

GTS

4.9 secs Acceleration 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h)
4.7 secs Acceleration 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) with Sport Chrono Package

Turbo

4.5 secs Acceleration 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h)
4.3 secs Acceleration 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) with Sport Chrono Package

The car is quicker with sports chrono.

I will concede that, but only when you are doing a launch, so in real world no gain other than bragging rights ;)

The car is quicker with sports chrono.
That is only because of Launch Control included with SC and I suspect most on forum respect their vehicles too much to use it more than once if at all

Do you have Sport Plus on your GTS?

If you had to rate "oomph" on a scale of 0 to 10 where 0 is comfort and 10 is sport plus, where do you feel Sport would fit on your GTS?
I thought I'd answered this but the post seems to have disappeared. :o

Yes I have Sport Plus, it's part of the SC package. However, I have no intention of accessing it while the car is still running in.

A Macan is not a sports car. It is very capable SUV
Not sure anybody claimed it is a sports car, it is however a performance car.

Our Macan has 600Nm of torque vs 540Nm in your 992 and 440hp vs your 450 - engine outputs are very similar and on a damp launch, the Macan would likely beat it off the lights.

Based on that, why wouldn't I want sports chrono to maximise performance?
I really don’t get your point here - an articulated lorry cab has more power and torque than both of our cars does that make it quicker !?

I think you’ll find weight makes some difference.

There is less of a traction issue for a standing start in the wet in the straight line than you might think - guess where the transfer of weight goes. In fact in the wet a rear drive 992S actually accelerates quicker without launch control as demonstrated at the pec several times.

Finally, I see you like stats so check out how quick my car accelerates to 60 compared to yours which has S/C

The car is only quoted as being quicker because of launch control and the aggressive gear changes which nobody would want to live with.

You’d also look a complete plonker using it at the traffic lights. I’m sure many of you have seen this.

As stated there is also the mechanical sympathy for think about.

Launch control equals disrespect?

The whole gain with launch control on Porsche versus other marques is that it's designed to be used. No need to disable traction control or stability control, no convoluted button sequence to get it working, no limit on number of uses, no warranty implication. You can use it repeatedly, as much as you like.
