If I was looking to cut that spec , then personally I would drop the 21 wheels, the leather interior and the carbon interior making the car look more like a "standard" GTS. the remaining options ate mainly items that add to comfort, utility or performance and hence you get some value from than not just look items. A base GTS looks good enough
I also want 21s (not decided which yet) and full leather as I didn't like the alcantara and having seen a new macan turbo with leather on the doors and dash it looked SO much better.

These aren't negotiable on my spec.

Carbon I can live without, it'll be near the top of the list to be chopped

Given half the people on here don’t think it is necessary then presumably half or less think it would be necessary second hand...
In my opinion, this is very much a demographic thing.

Half the people on here don't think it's necessary on their new car today. That's a fair statistic.

But half the people aren't buying a new GTS. Half the people don't care too much about performance. For many, like yourself, the SUV in Macan is more about the U than the S - you have another car to satisfy your sports needs. If you didn't, you may have bought a GTS or even a Turbo.

When this car is traded in after say 36 months it's going to be a used car. It's going to be considerably cheaper than a new one, say half price.

The people going to buy in that market are either going to be on a budget, and buying an S, or after performance and buying a GTS. If performance is their game, sports chrono will likely be all the difference. Not having a sports plus button will likely be a deal breaker.

I'm not saying it will affect every buyer but, from your own claims, it may reduce the number of potential buyers by a half. Nobody is going to mind it being there, but half the people simply won't buy the car if it doesn't have it.

In my case, when we were buying, there were about 80-90 Turbo cars on sale. As soon as I specified keyless entry and start as a requirement, I was left with just 12. When I excluded the colours we didn't want, just 3 cars. We waited months for the right car to appear.

Spec is everything if it's a factory fit option.
I accept on a Porsche sports car and I was asked when we sold Mrs 981s if it had a few times hence I specced both on hers and my 992.

We may have specced a GTS as we spent the same and therefore most of the options that would make it a gts. When we ordered the S the GTS wasn’t an option and not Worth waiting for, she wanted it then so got it then!

IMHO a GTS looks a little odd with Turbo wheels. I do like Turbo wheels but it just takes away from the GTS thing.
Was all set on the 21" Spyders. They don't look as good in the flesh. Rears are nice, nice dish to them, but the fronts were a bit flat.

My favourite (from a walk round the dealer that had pretty much every option on a Macan) were the old 21 turbos, but no longer an option on the my21

I've got the 21" turbo wheels and even I think you should get the GTS alloys.

But please get the sports chrono. Even if you don't want it, the next buyer will and you'll find it easier to sell.
Maybe. But will I get £800 more for it in 3 years?

Back on topic

Still no closer to making a decision on Bose / SC / Colour / Wheels ...
No / Yes / Carmine Red / Standard 20” GTS wheels. :)
+1 but I would say that because that matches my choices

The choice of SC is up to you. Much as we like to thing we are great influencers, the active members on this forum are a very small percentage of Macan owners. On a Gen 2 car, the Sports Response button is useful but there will be many owners who do not want to drive around in "Sport" or "Sport Plus" mode. A second hand buyer is more likely to be interested in exterior colour and interior finish.

In any event, you're going to be the first owner so buy the car you want.

You won’t get any money back on it but it might appeal to some

You know you want keyless entry really...and adaptive cruise...and lane change assist... :-D
Genuinely want none of those. Keyless is good in practice, but a security risk. No interest in the others at all!
Fair enough, these things are quite subjective, although keyless entry isn't really a security risk these days.

I was under the impression the new Porsche ones were safe from this type of attack.

However somebody will break that system soon

If I'm honest I'm not sure if options affect the value that much at all. They just control whether you get a sale or not.

We needed a tow bar so looked for a car that had one. They're about £800 as a factory option on a new car. We couldn't find a car we liked that had a tow bar so had to spend £1800 on a retrofit. We'd have jumped for any suitable car that had a towbar, saving a grand, just couldn't find one. But we could at least retrofit.

Keyless entry and others can't be retrofitted, so we simply wouldn't buy most of the cars on sale. Wasn't a case of making them a lower offer as they were missing bits, just a case of not calling at all.

So will you get your £800 back? Maybe not at all in the sale price, but you may shift it in weeks instead of months and the lack of hassle may be worth £800 instead of handling loads of phone calls asking if you had sports chrono. If this was a diesel or an S, I'd likely understand but the GTS is the performance end of the range and people will likely expect it more. It's got lower suspension, a rougher ride and driving miss daisy isn't going to buy a GTS unless she really wants it.

Indeed, the newer keys have motion sensors that prevents the piggy in the middle attacks. If they are left in a drawer or on a counter top they should be safe - but a suitable metal box is no harm.
