Easy to do if you spend too much time on the configurator. After extensive research on this forum I promised myself I wouldn't go more than 15% of base on options. Paid a visit to my OPC to fine tune the specification, got carried away and ended up at 22%

Porsche cars generally come out good on depreciation surveys. However I wonder if the people who work this out include options in the new price. A £50K S worth say £40K after a couple of years might look good. However not if the car actually cost £70K with options.

I try and use rule of 10% of base price for extras as my cut off point, hopefully it works when I come to change

Agree. This works for me too.

Got 63% of the original value including extras for my SD when I trade it in with my OPC. 3 years old and with 18,000 miles.

I didn't spec my car (it was a pre-order sat in the showroom) and indeed it has some things on it I wouldn't have ordered (like crested headrests and 21" wheels) and some, oddly missing, like the interior lighting package and auto dimming mirrors! I mean, my mates van even has vanity mirror lighting FGS! That said, at 35.4% options or £17k, it is quite a basic spec, compared to that video?

it is a dealer trick, they would like to sell you all the extras over the next few years of ownership at much higher cost than factory.

Many dealer specified car have rather odd combinations of extras as said, rarely requested extras fitted and more popular ones missing. Probably a car specified by committee lol

My SD cost the first owner £70k as it has £24k of options. Some would say you could buy a GTS for that, maybe the first owner just wanted diesel. Win, win situation for me as I bought it at 10k miles and just over two and a half years old for not even the cost of a new standard SD.
