Update: had an email from Vodafone saying the telematics/tracking device has failed a health check. Looked at the connect app and it wouldn’t update vehicle info. Will have to call them for tests apparently. Ugh.

Probably would’ve been better off not bothering with the subscription and getting one from Tracker like I previously have.

Anyway it’s getting a maintenance wash this week so think some pics will be in order in better weather. Only 3k miles in nearly 6 months but each one has been lovely.

6 month review: is this car worth it? The answer is a resounding yes. 4200 miles in and each one has been a joy. The car is fundamentally old-school in the way it sounds and with all the buttons and manual bits inside. Even on the new one they’ve not changed the instrument binnacle - just the centre console.

And yet it has all the tech you could need. Google Earth navigation, wireless CarPlay, reversing/parking aids, electric seats and steering, etc etc.

This pre-facelift gen 2 is, in my view, the sweet spot in Porsche design and technology for the Macan. There’s just enough tech with that huge touchscreen, but also a load of manual controls for convenience.

It goes only 150-200 miles a week and takes £300 odd a month in fuel if you drive it properly. But why wouldn’t you? That’s what it’s for.

Couldn’t be happier with it. If you can get a build slot for the updated one, grab it with both hands! It’s a brilliant bit of kit. Gets a lot of looks too, especially when clean. And is rare as hell. Even in Cheshire, all the Macans I see are the 2.0 or the S. I’ve actually only seen 2 facelift turbos and 2 facelift GTS models since Jan when I placed the order.

Pictured on a visit to Waitrose last week. The weather was better then.
