Whilst looking for a GTS less than one year old i soon realised they are very rare and priced as new so decided to look at new. Doing some research I saw an article about the next updated models due for release mid year. Spoke to a local OPC and put down a deposit as they have just been given the go ahead to take deposits. No detailed spec for a while but appears that apart from some minor body changes the dash area will be more like the new Panamera with touch sensitive button panels , and touch only infotainment.
Probably find the GTS will be a lot later than the S so may have to wait or go for an S.
I can look forward to many hours on the configurator once it is updated.
I've been going through the same thought process myself. I placed an order in September, knowing I didn't want to take delivery until April, but have debated in my own head whether to wait for the refresh. After reading ghostwalker's comments, I've gone back to sticking with my original order rather than waiting. For me, a GTS ticks all my box's, so I couldn't wait another 18 months..!

My views:

1. GTS over S
2. Current wider screen plus centre button is actually a good mix/balance
3. 21s! We came from an Evoque and this seems more comfortable. We don’t have air, but have PASM.
Current:
997.2 C2S, Meteor Grey, PDK (with paddles), PSE, Sports Chrono, etc.... (2009)
Macan, Volcano Grey, 21” RS Spyder Design Alloys (2020): http://www.porsche-code.com/PLVB2FZ0

Haha cheers :D I just think the whole touch-screen revolution is a bit crazy. Last summer I drove a friend’s RSQ8 and my only complaint was the all-screen dashboard. Buttons are so much better! :D

Does anyone know if we’re likely to be affected by the global chip shortage situation? I understand VW, Audi, Ford and a number of other manufacturers are now having to scale-down production. My OPC couldn’t tell me anything

I looked at the updates coming and decided to go for it now, so paid a deposit for a May build slot for a GTS, but just had a call and it’s come forward to April. Got to be better that my current S which took 14 months to arrive in December 2016.
