All running smoothly with my Turbo. Just had confirmation that after ordering around mid April, car is built and about to make its way to Emden.

Will be in it by the end of the month.

OPC confirmed Turbos are tending to stay on track.

Naturally, while we have supply-chain disruption, production of higher margin vehicles will be prioritised.

The big problem Porsche have is that although they are a prestige marque and could probably afford to pay more in order to guarantee supply, they are a very small fish in a big pond due to the small quantities that they order in comparison to say, Ford, Nissan, etc.

So as a supplier you will ensure you look after your biggest customer, of which Porsche I would suggest are not.

VW Group probably buy for whole group but knock cost down telling suppliers parts going in Skoda's and Seats so they cannot afford much! ;) ;)

Quick udpate - Still on track for start/mid July build with 18 way seats still specced but I understand some people have been told by the dealer to switch to 8-way seats or cancel the order...if this does end up happening, what would you advise? I still really want the car but equally I really want the proper "hugging" seats...it's my first Porsche so I want it to be perfect.

It's a first world problem but it's a lot of cash to spend on a car!

If you really want the 18-way seats to make it your ‘perfect’ Porsche, then if they can’t supply them, then I’d cancel the order....otherwise you’d always be thinking ‘what if’!!??

The GTS 8-way are great, more bolstered and hug you better than the S 8-way seat.

I see there is an article in the FT this morning in which Bosch is blaming the auto firms for the semiconductor shortage. Bosch orders the manufacturers have historically delayed purchasing to the last minute to buy for the cheapest supplier in the market at the last minute. In future, Bosch argues they need to place long term contracts for supply in place

Agreed. The auto industry and most manufacturing industries have operated on the “just in time” system for years, as they don’t like to hold stock in the shelves for more than a few days.
However when parts become crucial to your output (critical path) the system should kick in and purchase earlier and hold stock. Perhaps this is what has happened, but it was all a bit too late?
