Spoke to my OPC today and they reckon that cars have been taken off the line with parts missing. Our car has apparently got a VIN and he said that once they get a VIN they would normally be giving potential dates for delivery - normally! No dates, no estimates. Chip shortage as we all know, plus apparently some issue with supply for PASM (might have said PSM). Not sure how true any of this is as they also said some cars were being robbed of parts to put on others but that must be something like Macan production line giving up parts for 911 production line where they share - or some such thing (personally, I reckon potentially BS).

2011 987.2 Cayman R (Carrara White)

Given I think the factory reopened today following the summer shutdown, it’ll be interesting to see what (if any) updates we get to the latest Gen 2 dates we had for production of 30th Sept…If anyone gets an update this week, please let us know.

I spoke with my OPC yesterday and they confirmed my Gen 2 GTS is built and will arrive on 17th September which will be three weeks late. Hope this pans out this way.

Wow great - fingers crossed!

Did you have a build date pre factory lockdown?

My S was originally due in June…latest was a 30th Sept build date so delivery would be Oct…

My date went out to 25th September then came back in to 17th September. My original date was 25th August so all seems quite good. I had to opt for the standard seats though and this is probably why I will get it. I had no option. OPC said standard seats or no car !

I'd choose no car. Not because I have an issue with the standard seats, but because I'm spending a lot of money and wouldn't want to be dictated to by a car salesman. There are plenty of other options out there.

Well apparently mine is still showing as 30th Sept build date…my original order went in in April!

I have 18 way seats specced but I’ve not had to have a discussion re removing these…

Is all smoke and mirrors, there is FAR TOO MUCH credence given in this forum to OPC sales folk, IMHO 😁
