Monday: OPC called to say our car is finally in the UK!
Tuesday: OPC called to say they don't know when it will be with them
Wednesday: OPC called to say it had arrived with them unannounced! Would we like to collect on Monday!!!

Finally, the end is in sight having placed the order back in February! Collection is being planned for Monday. I'll put some pics up when we get it.

It's the first car we have ever had from around 50 cars that my Mrs is actually excited about! Looking forward to her getting the whole OPC handover experience. They have been primed to ensure they live up to expectations!!

Got the car Monday and we're really happy with it - looks excellent, drive much better than any SUV has the right to (loving the crackles and pops from the exhaust), but immediately had to press it into service and covered 600 miles by Wednesday night. Crazy week and no opportunity to take pics with it clean, but it has been whisked away today for full polish, ceramic coating and ppf to front bumper, bonnet and mirrors.

Now the questions for you guys :

On handover, did you get a book pack, and did it contain the build sticker (the white one with all the option codes etc) inside the service book ? We got neither and were then handed a book pack by the OPC a few days later but there is nothing that relates specifically to a GTS, and no build sticker inside the service book (even my Cayman R had a special supplemental book specific to the R - thought the GTS might be the same?).

I’d say an R cayman (which is was like a gt3/RS 911) is far more special than a run of the mill suv !

There will be a limit to how many cars they can have "sitting around" at various locations. They'll have to either start shipping soon or stop production. I'm not sure how many cars Porsche makes in a day, but assume its at least in the hundreds (they are just production-line cars built like a Ford or a Vauxhall after all). I assume at some point they'll ship them to dealers and then put a hold on them there and get the dealers to retrofit parts.

Apparently there are already numerous cars of all models in dealers compounds on hold for various reasons, for security, insurance and actual space reasons cant take any more. No doubt Porsche GB's own dealerships will be full to the brim eventually and obviously at their own risk. :o
