I assume no or few Gen 3 cars will have been through WLTP testing yet. If a model is depending on options specced either side of a 1st-year road tax band then impossible to be firm. Also, there is a budget due this autumn before most Gen 3 cars will be delivered.

I do think Porsche has considered WLTP testing in some of the announcements of Gen 3 , i.e S moving from 18 to 20 wheels with 18 and 19 not there as options. Similarly with GTS restricted to 21's. these "restrictions" wipe off a whole load of WLTP testing as do others like sports design disappearing as an option. In the main it is the low sellers that have gone, I just hope they do not go farther, eg just bundles like BMW.

Yep. All cars over £40,000 cop this extra tax plus increased Road Fund Licence for the first 5 years.. It’s nothing to do with Porsche you can blame George Osborne.. remember him!!
so how is mine showing as £1,910? Is it some kind of thing individual dealers do as an incentive, and they pay the difference?
I have absolutely no idea. Assumed all Porsche dealers would charge the same. Mines £2,245. They did say it went up recently but that could just be the RFL part of it.
My S order shows £1,910 too, so presumably the S sneaks into the 226 to 255g/km CO2 band and the GTS is in the Over 255g/km band.

Yes, that's correct - the initial vehicle tax is based on the CO2 bandings as well as exceeding the £40k mark.

But some options may move an S to the higher band eg 21 wheels?

It effectively is the Turbo. Performance and fit wise the GTS replaces the Turbo and the S replaces the old GTS. In fact I believe the Gen 3 GTS is slightly faster than the Gen 2 turbo

Does anyone know if the GT Design wheels in satin black are the same finish as the black spyders on the gen2?

That's a big spec. What custom colour are you going for?
A couple under consideration at the moment but likely a dark green
