I don't listen to music. If I did it wouldn't be appreciated as I have tinnitus. Radio 5 and Talk Sport are my background noise. But I have specced BOSE - not having it will be like not having Satnav or Aircon in terms of desirability by the average Joe on resale.

Thanks, that's what the SE was indicating.

I beg to differ.

Selling a nearly new, premium car without satnav or aircon would be a real struggle in this day & age, as most humble family runabouts now have these as standard kit.

I honestly believe that (apart from OPC salespersons) the lack of Bose in a pre-loved Porsche will make very little difference to most potential buyers.

I think that Bose being essential for resale is an OPC- generated myth. :geek:

I agree with Simon, if you want BOSE then buy it but it certainly won’t add £1k to your trade in and won’t deter potential purchasers as you already have a decent spec colour choice. Personally not so keen on the RaceTex steering wheel, looks great new but can look tired on used cars.

I agree with you 100% but unfortunately they set the price. There will be a class of buyers who want it and another like you and me who are unconcerned one way or the other. Given two cars the audiophiles will want BOSE the tone deaf wont. So naturally you can sell to both camps if you have it. To a lot of Porschers the option list is more important than the mechanicals.

Was specifically told by OPC that a used car with Bose will be around £500 higher price than equivalent without.
If that’s true you spend £850 to gain £500. Or Bose costs you £350 in reality…

I'm not sure how many people think the same way as me but if buying used I always go for the upgraded stereo or spec it if buying new. I've found standard systems are poor no matter how expensive the car (my Vantage has the standard system as I bought it from the showroom, it's one of the worst systems I've ever had!)

I've specc'd Burmeister on my Macan which I'm sure no-one will really appreciate upon resale, however I'd never buy a used car with the standard stereo unless it was very easy to upgrade. FWIW I wasn't that impressed with the Bose system in the demonstrator I had, hence the jump to Burmeister.

It’s funny how all these SE’s say every option is a must have, and you’ll get more come trade in if you spec it,my dealer told me they wouldn’t buy a used Macan without a pan roof, so on that basis whoever hasn’t specced one will never sell their car! I’d take whatever a SE tells you with a pinch of salt. :D

Tried all three audio options on the road in demos before buying my first Macan. Thought standard was good and it wasn't worth the upgrade costs.

I traded in my SD at 3 yrs and 18,500 miles with my OPC and got 64% of what I'd paid cash for it brand new (in May 2017). The OPC sold it within two weeks (in June 2020). No Bose = no problem. ;)

I absolutely agree. At the end of the day it’s about desirability of a used car and a few options will certainly affect that but only to a point. I think in general a lot of the “feel good options” are just that and won’t really affect the used return.
My spec is full of them but not based on value to the next owner just the value to me - cars deprecate, even Porsches (eventually) 😊
