With the difference in sidewall height between 18" and 21" wheels being 11⁄2" it's not surprising the ride was softer on 18" wheels. The difference between 20" and 21" is less marked so these days it's all about how the wheels look to the buyer. There's no question that Porsche see optional wheels as an exceptionally good earner but whether they represent value for money is an entirely different discussion.
Best ride of any Macan I have driven was a cra4pie 2.0 on 18” rims with air suspension

Worst ride, an S with no PASM and 21” wheels.

Best handling Macan PP on air set on low with 21”.

Best handling has to be a GTS on its standard wheels for that is what it was designed for and the Engineers know best (I think).

cra4pie 2.0
A bit harsh, I don't think you can call any Macan cra4pie. If I'd just spent £50k plus on a Macan and then read this comment I'd be pretty fed up. One of the many great things about a Macan is the breadth of it's abilities with a wide range of specs to match - from a daily family car to a high performance specialist vehicle.

Every Macan is a great Macan regardless of colour , engine or spec

What is unifying is that we all recognise that ‘ hopefully’. !

I certainly wouldn’t consider a 2.0 Macan worse or a GtS/ Turbo better then my S just different

Agreed

What a snobby comment from a turbo owner

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whatever make or model of car that relates to. Even more so when a big chunk of money is handed over, like what we do.
I bet most on here love their cars.

Going from 20" to 21" will be more detrimental to handling and comfort versus going from 18" and 19". With the former, you're removing a significantly larger percentage of sidewall compared to the latter. I agree most buyers purchase wheels based on looks, and tend not to be bothered if that impacts comfort.

Porsche seems to have succumbed to this idea too, by only offering the GTS with 21" wheels. Porsche presumably realises this impacts comfort, so it offers the no-cost option of standard air suspension. Many of the press cars came with this specified, presumably to avoid negative reviews.

Thought the same until I drove the GTS on 21s with standard sports suspension.

Thought it was awesome. In comfort mode it was really really smooth.

Not harsh at all.

The 2.0 is grossly underpowered for a Porsche.

Drive any other Porsche and put your foot down and off it goes like a bat out of hell, do the same with a 2.0 and a VW Passat or BMW 118D will out accelerate it.

On the open road where there is traffic, you are stuck, in an S, GTS or Turbo you can make safe and quick progress like you should be able to do in any Porsche.

To call it crap is unfair and rude to those that own one

Not everyone buys a Porsche for speed and indeed a large percentage of the owners probably don’t go anywhere near the limit.

I’ve had a few 2.0 loaners and they were absolutely fine

Disagree, we owned a 2ltr one a few years back, was a great great car and no slouch. More than enough power day to day.

It was a lovely car and not lacking in power, more than adequate for most ppl.
