Hi All,
Does anyone have an opinion on the ceramic coating offered by dealers. My OPC has quoted £1200 to have this done before handover (presumably by a 3rd party detailed).
Have any of you had this done and was it worth the money? I’m wondering whether I would be better optioning the PSE at this stage (removing the already optioned black tailpipes) for the same money and having the ceramic done at a later date when budget allows??
Thoughts!!
Thanks
Dealer ceramic coating!?!
Lots of threads here re detailers and coatings, most will tell you to find a good detailer yourself. Certainly wouldn’t pass £1200 to a dealer for the job.

My dealer was also charging £1200 but they reduced it to £699 as I wanted to stay within my budget.

Search the forum for threads, there are many.
£1200 is a rip off, of that there is no doubt.
I would not even ask them for a breakdown of what they intend to do at that price.
Ask a nearby Pro Detailer for a written quote for them to detail just the exterior and ask them to describe the works involved.
My thread from a few years ago goes into detail and the members have added lots of tips and info.

BTW
I only had my Macan detailed externally due to chemical allergies I wanted nothing doing to the interior. Five years later the interior still looks like new proving to me that internal treatments are a waste providing you have a good cleaning regime.
Now as for PSE, it is a useless waste of money, it is a toy you use a few time then it stays switched off as it drones very badly when driving at a constant speed, in any case floor the throttle of a non PSE Macan and you will still get the engine growl. Look at it another way the cost of not having PSE can be redistributed to fund many, many months of road fuel.

£1200 asking price is probably correct - the detailer gets paid £600 - whilst the OPC pockets £600... great buisness - thats why they always ask and try to make its customers get the detailing done.

I’ve had 3 cars done at my local guy. He charges around £700 and uses IGL Kenso. Have to admit after 6 years the Golf looks fantastic still. I’m going to have him do my Macan T when it arrives. £1200 is just taking the p*ss

Mid Sussex quoted me £600 for inside and out. I didn’t take it and personally don’t see the point. Didn’t have my car done and 7 months later it still looks like new.
Doing ceramic coating properly is a specialist job. Dealers aren't specialists, especially the little lad in the wash bay who'll probably get tasked with the job!

New Car Detail with Ceramic on an SUV is typically £600 and you can then add wheels off coating for about £200, interior protection and glass for a further £100. After that it is the law of rapidly diminishing returns.
Leave it until later and you can add another £3-400 to the new car price as it will need more preparation to get it ready for coating.
Give me a specialist every time over a dealer team. Nothing wrong with their prep for handover but these coatings have cure times and there are very few shortcuts to get a good result.
