My point about emergency braking is that it is not optioned unless ACC is chosen. This feature is separate to ACC and can take effect at a roundabout entry for example, where you think the car in front has gone and it hasn’t but you are looking what’s coming to your right (we’ve all been there).
Most new cars have this feature regardless of cost but you need to spec ACC in the Macan to get it.
Thoughts on my Macan S spec and a few questions

I'm glad i've specified ACC now, just need to understand how it works when the car finally arrives.
The emergency brake function works independently of ACC. It doesn’t matter whether you have it switched on or not.
It’s just that you don’t get this without speccing ACC. As a safety feature it is right up there with anti-lock brakes and airbags!!

I have it on my Merc (standard kit of course) and it’s very good. But I have heard that some cars are way to reactive with puffs of air setting them off. How have you found it? Also, can it be turned off if desired?
Macan S MY 2023
I had it on my last BM and Merc E coupe and it worked extremely well, stopping at least two low speed bumps into the back of slow moving traffic. It was a harsh stop on both occasions but I was only a few feet behind. One at a roundabout and one at a zebra crossing, both my fault for being inattentive but both avoiding contact. I get the impression it takes more than a stray leaf or puff of air.
Good question about switching off, I have never tried but also wouldn’t want to if I’m honest.
Nearly all new cars will have this feature so I think technology is tried and tested…

I rarely use the ACC but it was faultless on a ~600 mile motorway journey a couple of months back. I didn’t find the autobraking too intrusive and you can make smooth progress easily once you have a little faith in the auto-stop feature… I must admit I was hovering my foot over the brake pedal on a few occasions until I trusted it.
I’ve not had the emergency braking deploy but the warning alarm is certainly effective!

I know what you mean
My wife’s view is “if you are going to have a Porsche, get everything you want”
I have done because I won’t be buying a 911 anytime soon and this might be the last Porsche I ever buy. I didn’t want a “sensible spec” whatever that means…
