Thanks Andreas, have come up with the same except for PASM and LED’s. Also she wants manual so we are at around £53k. Just been told there is a 12 month lead time so not sure which direction to go in now…andreas wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 4:28 pmLast year, I looked at speccing a Boxster for my wife, to replace a TT Roadster. I found it difficult to avoid including a lot of "essential" options. Even being frugal, I couldn't get it much below £56K. In the end, as she doesn't do much mileage, we went for another TT Roadster instead! And saved about £20K! I’m looking to order a new Boxster for my wife and am wondering whether the PASM option is essential?
I know some of you have 718’s in various guises but I’m looking at a base model in a nice colour but just essential bits to keep costs down.
Any advice as to what is “essential” is welcome but particularly the PASM bit…
* Metallic paint
* PDK
* PASM
* 19" Cayman S wheels (easier to clean!)
* LED headlights
* Light design package
* Electric folding mirrors
* Auto dimming mirrors
* Reversing camera
* Cruise control (basic)
* Heated steering wheel

PASM lowers the ride height slightly and does make the car more comfortable.
In my view, LED headlights should be standard, they're an important safety feature. Manufacturers shouldn't be charging extra for decent headlights!
The PDK transmission is so good that around 90% of Boxsters are specified with it. Manual might affect retained value.
The leadtime issue was also a factor for us, and was the reason we went for a high-spec TT Roadster instead. I'd still like to have a Boxster in the drive, so maybe in a year or so?

Being a regular on the Rennlist forum, manual transmission on a 911 tends to be a good thing for retaining value, so I’d imagine it’s much the same for a Boxster. Not speccing PDK also saves a chunk of cash on a new 718. And if Mrs A wants a Shark Blue, manual Boxster, then that’s what she should have...

Currently on the Porsche GB Approved List there is only one 992 manual, all the rest are PDK.andreas wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 11:12 amInteresting to note that around 80% of all the Boxsters listed on Porsche's Approved list have PDK.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:21 am

Yes she is a keen driver and if ever there was a car just made for a manual box it must be the Boxster??Wing Commander wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:21 amandreas wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 4:57 pmPASM lowers the ride height slightly and does make the car more comfortable.

Anyway you are right about one thing Simon, it will be Shark blue with a manual box - Mrs A can be quite insistent…

Love shark blue!!!
We had PASM on our 981S which has 20s - ride and handling were awesome
Never drove one without which means I’ve contributed nothing to this post other than saying shark blue is lovely

I have a 987S on 20" wheels without PASM and I'm perfectly happy with the ride as it is. I can't say that PASM might not improve it - but I'm blown away by the car's ride and handling every time I drive it (which isn't often).
I deliberately went for a manual because I thought it suited the boxster best.
I now have a Gen3 Macan S with PASM and PDK and feel that these features suit that car perfectly as well.
I'm not sure you can go far wrong either way TBH
