Everyone has their reasons why they pick options. Even people without budgets dont pick everything.
I think it would be very helpful to give your personal reasons for picking the options you did or the options you did not pick for that matter. I take no offence by some of the advise / comments on this forum and hope nobody has to mine.
Some new users may feel under pressure to add options and we do not know their budgets / circumstances. yes we are all grown ups and should make our own decisions but you get what i mean...

All you need is Petrol and away it goes. If you want a bit more then great...

My GTS spec and options / reasons are below for those interested. Again depending on what you intend to use the car for will depend on options you pick. I have young kids and its the wife doing most of the driving.
If i was single i would just get a 911 4s and be done with it....Tongue

LED Headlights
- Upgraded them from Bi Xenon's because they looked nice
18 Way seats
- Love them and also wanted the full memory package which you only get with 14
or 18 way. (The add on memory is not the same)
Connect +
- Everything it states is what i want to do. Also i like gadgets
Surround Camera -
May save the wheels from being kerbed. Insurance taken anyway.
Heated seats
- Always had them in all my cars and love it. Not bothered with rear heating as
kids car seats.
Spare wheel
- My wife won't change it but she can call Porsche assist. If you don't have a
spare wheel you can't call them out and you will have to use a puncture repair
kit. She will not want to do anything....
Smoking Package
- Just to cover that hole. Wish they did a cover for the drinks holders too....
Full GTS interior
- It looks amazing. Not worth the money but what is these days.
Pano Roof
- Gave the kids an option to pick. That's what they picked which certainly benefits
rear passengers more.
Speed limit
indicator
- I want to see the speed limit indicator even when i am not
on Sat Nav mode. Can't do that without this option.
Sat Nav-
Who would not have one.....
Side Airbags
- Have kids
Privacy Glass
- Have kids
Sport design
Mirrors
- Looks... Love them.
Power Steering
Plus
- Lightens the steering during parking / low speed (This can
always be added by software update later though)

Options I considered but did not pick

Entry and Drive
- Security reasons I have read about (not just Porsche) and it's not that much
hassle to put a key in
Roof rails
- Never used them on any of my previous cars and for me gave the car a nicer finish
Heated Steering
wheel
- I picked the options on a lovely sunny day in September. Now I am
looking for warm gloves Cry

Hope this helps and if not then i just got another point for posting.....Thumbs Up

I've got to say I wish I'd spec'd the surround camera

The surround failed with a broad red band top to bottom of the screen, on the PEC car I drove Tuesday

Great post kasfranks, so your only "must have" is a 911 4s?

Friendly and helpful advice always given on here but read "must have" as "nice to have". Your Macan will still start in the morning and be a wonderful vehicle without any of Evil's list. I've got a suspicion that he works for Porsche and is on commission.Smile

I bet very few here have driven a basic Macan, one where no or hardly any extras are fitted.

Yes, its a Porsche and yes it handles OK

But no it is not a wonderful vehicle, a sub £50k Macan is plain basic and yes for short journeys or as a second car that may suffice but for those who want it as a main car it is not enough

To make it a wondeful vehicle for probably the vast majority at least £5k of extras will be needed, then the transformed Macan will be truely great.

But if you have not lived with a Macan with the Extras that bridge the gap, how on earth can you know what the difference is?

Nice way of putting it kasfranks.

Disagree a bit here, Col. I think it may have been Caster who drove a demo SD with virtually no options. And mine was light on options, excluding the 21" wheels. Compared to the competition, a "basic" sub-£50k Macan is still a great car that handles well. Some may not have the budget to add £5k+ in options, but they can afford a Macan in fairly low spec. This is still likely to be a way better car than a comparable X3, Q5 or GLC. Geek
