Ok. So if anyone asks about their car build, they we should all say "upto you" and leave it at that then! It would save all these comments then.

So go forth and tell porsche to lock down that car so you can get it faster!

I thought your categorisation actually made good sense EviL.

At the end of the day, they're all called 'options' for a good reason & ultimately it's a personal choice that for some is defined by budget.

I owned a bog standard Cayman S for 5 years that I bought on impulse (showroom car) while on my way to pick up a 993. I loved that car and never missed other options I could have specced if I'd had months to deliberate.

'Basic' car can be good for some but others will wish to add thousands in options. That's the beauty of the brand!
No longer part of the Porsche Family. Now enjoying a Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Ok, people don't seem to like the wording "Must have". So how about this for the future?
List of frequently specified options from this forum include:
For improving the driving experience:
PASM (Especially with the larger wheels) I have removed 'ESSENTIAL' Wink
Bi-Xenon or LED headlights (The standard halogens are regarded as a bit poor by some)
14 or 18 way seats (Or the standard seats in the GTS.)
Sat Nav
Connect + (brings all the connect apps to the car)
Surround camera
Interior lighting pack
Driver memory (if 14 or 18 way seats not chosen)
For resale (or because you like them):
Heated seats and/or heated steering wheel
Panoramic sun roof
19-21" wheels
Makes sense to many, but not vital:
Spare wheel
Smoking package (to cover the hole in the console.)

Hi EviL. I have taken the liberty of amending your improved list slightly... Embarrassed Hope you don't mind. What do you think? My suggested changes are in bold.

Headlights depend on the driving being done - I know most of you seem to say that halogens are a disaster but I never had any issues on my Macans (or any previous car for that matter) with night driving...but I acknowledge I do not use on a daily basis hence my opening comment.
Also surround view, had this once on a used car and it was nice but never had since - not had in Macan, Panamera or other large cars, and I can't say I have ever had an issue parking as long as you follow the reversing camera gridlines.
Current Porsches: 991.2 GT3 RS
Previous Porsches: Macan x4 (one of each), Panamera x2, 996x2, 997x2, Cayenne S, Boxster S, Cayman S x2, Boxster Spyder, 991.1 Turbo S, 991.2 GT3 (manual), 718 Cayman GTS (PDK)
Others: way too many...

Agreed. Hence I suggested adding 'by some' to the comment regarding halogens. Wink
Perhaps 'Surround camera' could be amended to 'Surround view or reversing camera' Geek

The best service you can give to any new person asking for advice here is to point them to existing threads discussing the things they are interested in.

If you respond with "these are must haves" to a new person, and you have 5 stars and the "rank" of moderator or colonel, you may imply some weight that you do not have.

Especially true of those people that only keep a car for a few months before moving on to something else. Some new people here are looking for a car to keep for years.

I have always disagreed with the terms of 'must haves' or 'essentials' as there is no such thing. Every buyer is different and Macan permutations are practically infinite.
However, I can see that a guide list of commonly ordered options might be a useful reference point for a new Macan buyer to start their specification process. Smile
