I was strongly advised by my sales advisor to steer clear of the standard black as it is really prone to scratches.
I don't understand how a colour can make a car scratch prone. Failure to trim the bushes along your driveway perhaps, but a colour?
Not sure if it's SE BS but mine advised against flat black as he said the varnish coat on metallic was much more hardwearing than on the standard black.

Hi all. Just joined the forum and steadily going through all the posts. Really interesting and truly useful as I continue trying to find that elusive 'perfect spec' (I'll post a separate thread on that in due course - be warned!!).
First though this thread on colour choice is fascinating as this is proving the most difficult aspect of my spec.
I thought I'd share my thoughts on Jet Black as I have personal experience of it on my late and sadly departed Boxster GTS!
The problem I found is that it seems to have a white or very pale grey undercoat. Obviously any chips stuck out like a sore thumb! On the plus side, you know which bits need touching in! However, the millions of microscopic chips you get along the sills and rear arches start to show up as a grey 'mist'.
For this reason I'm veering towards white or Rhodium Silver?
In terms of keeping it clean though, I never had much of a problem: regular waxing helps, as does using autoglym aquawax after washing. And it really looks stunning when its clean!!
In terms of the metallic vs. Flat black debate, I'd agree: metallic all the way. A friend has 'flat' black on his Macan and it always looked flatter when dirty than my Boxster did! The metallic finish really does 'pop'!
Not sure which of you set this forum up, but a big thanks as it's proving invaluable as I travel the exciting journey towards collection day in September!
