Well, after expecting to take delivery of my new GTS on 1st September, I received some bad news today.

It's been built and completed ahead of schedule and is already on the dock awaiting shipping.

I had anticipated it landing mid August with a two week wait for the 67 plate.

Now it's going to be here this month!

Do I stick or twist............

Buy a personal plate, doing so covers the sin of having an older car I've found.

picked up my first SD mid July........

It all depends how "residual fussy" you are!

6 weeks extra driving of the car is the plus side......the downside is that, after say, 3 years, it'll be worth £XX less.....(the XX is very subjective but probably £500 - £1000 .... "17 / 17" as opposed to "17 / 67" from a valuation point of view - personalised plate won't change that)

Mind you, if its currently only awaiting shipping it could be another 10 days before it's ready for delivery which takes us nearly into August anyway.........

Don't suppose it'll make much difference if you plan to keep it for years but if you change in a couple of years the new reg might be worth a touch more.
I'm not sure i'll have the willpower to wait if mine arrives early.

I might get an older plate anyway so nobody knows I've bought new.

We picked ours up between xmas and new year! As we have a personal plate anyway. Much better to get it in hand and start driving it!

Nice problem to have. I would get it now. If it were middle of August then I would wait a couple of weeks as new reg is nice. It will NOT get you any more money when you sell it from my experiences. I have had a number of Feb and July cars and have received over and above trade in value from dealers because of its condition and mileage. And also what deal you can strike at the time. Not once has anyone said oohhh it's a Feb car etc. Maybe many years ago when we only had 1 registration a year it was a different story.
So that would not put me off.
Drive it while we have the great weather 👍 Enjoy whatever you choose and look forward to the pictures 😀

I would try to get a firm delivery date. If it is next week, I would take the car, if it is mid August - maybe not.

Well, the car arrived yesterday.

I've decided to wait for the next six and a half weeks before collecting.......

You are more patient than me!

Have you been to see it? Or have they sent you photos or a video of it?
