Macan Petrol S vs Macan GTS

I originally wanted a petrol S, but the long wait and woefully under spec in standard form, had me going for the Turbo and even that needed a healthy wodge of options to make it acceptable.

GTS didn't exist back then, when when it did, I went for another Turbo, because the GTS still needs options to get the seats/interior the way I'd want it and to stop it looking like a GTS.

Having since driven GTSes, I think it needs steel springs and fixed roof to fully make use of the firmer setup, but then it loses the benefits of air suspension for the 90% of the time I need the car to be utility vehicle.

Today is my lockdown day and I didn't try to change my model choice or the spec. So I will take delivery of an S in around 6 weeks. I agree with those who've said that the GTS "free" options don't necessarily match the options you want. I like the sports exhaust but I don't want it. I've been on the confuserator a good few times and the GTS is 5k more expensive for the same (v nearly) spec.

And having just done my PEC day, which was fantastic, I'm more sure than ever that the S is more than enough for my and Noblewoman's needs. I'm not concerned about GTS vs S depreciation; I keep my cars for 4 + years and longer in this case, I hope. By that point, I'd be surprised if the market value difference justifies the higher purchase price of the GTS based on my spec.

Congrats on your lockdown but I suggest you get back to your OPC.

Lockdown has been six weeks prior to build

Build takes 2-3 days depending upon the tome of day it commences.

From the time the vehicle enters the compound until it gets to the OPC is a variable with the shortest being 7 days to a longest of 60 days (excluding WingCo's Panny that got lost in transit). An average delivery has been three weeks.

Hence expecting it after six weeks from lockdown is not the norm.

You're right, that's my mistake - build date is first week of Sept, so hopefully some time before end of Sept. That will have been a 5 month wait since deposit.

Porsche's uk approved used available Macans currently. Read that as you will but if you are looking for an S there is not many around.

GTS = 20
Turbo = 37
SD = 150

Oh, that's easy to interpret.
People with S are happy and keep them.
People with GTS are less happy or were in the speculation game of buying and selling to make money (probably not successfully)
Indeed, people with lower/base spec cars are generally happier with their lot.

Not really. Rare is not the same as low availability at dealers.
Maybe @bigbaldybloke meant "low availability" when he said "rare."

What we need to know is how many of each are sold.
Then we can get some very accurate info.

Still demand changes for each model as we have seen with the Diesels so it can only be based on current demands.

Currently this shows S, GTS and Turbo about even, way less than SDs as expected.

I've called them Petrol-1 and Petrol-2 because I can't tell from the data which one is the two litre car and which is the three litre model. Or, given the way that the data has been collected / presented, there is the possibility that these are mixed. Apparently one petrol SD has been registered which doesn't fill me with confidence about the precision of the data.

PP small as only available part year.

Was GTS available for whole of 2016?
