Diesel unnecessary (given torque curve and engine noise makes revving for power or drama obsolete)
Petrol essential

My normal fun driving mode is Sports Plus active but in manual transmission mode (assuming PDK), Sport mode alone doesn't seem sufficient to me.
PDK is a given on the Macan and PDK programming is quite different between the various Porsche models, so not easily comparable. PDK on the previous model Cayman and Boxster was just awful, for example.
Used to have 2016 Macan Turbo PHCKCL70
Previously a 2014 Macan Turbo.
Now a 2021 Tesla Model 3 LR

Default mode for any Porsche for me is Sport Plus and manual (when driving for fun, not for the family!)
Current Porsches: 991.2 GT3 RS
Previous Porsches: Macan x4 (one of each), Panamera x2, 996x2, 997x2, Cayenne S, Boxster S, Cayman S x2, Boxster Spyder, 991.1 Turbo S, 991.2 GT3 (manual), 718 Cayman GTS (PDK)
Others: way too many...

Any Macan will benefit from SC but only IF you like to drive in a spirited fashion and you do not have a lead right foot.

The throttle map it gives is sensitive and requires a delicate right foot otherwise it is more like an on/off pedal.

LC is a gimmick and is brutal on the transmission, good for using at the PEC on their cars, never used it on either of mine.

Sports Crono IMO would be worth it on the Macan if it was fitted to the steering wheel like on the cayman, boxster 911 etc, but it's another button to fumble for on the centre console so No.

That is unless you want to drive in sports plus all the time.

Sports + in manual mode, as mentioned by Virage, brings the car to life. Also the dash is huge and boring without the pimple of the clock!

My bet is that the steering wheel-mounted mode selector (as seen in the 991.2 and new Panamera) will appear in the face lifted Macan, due to go into production early next year (according to Luke). :geek:

That is true, WingCo but the compass doesn't give you sports +, not sure if you knew that ;-)

Agree sport + and manual changes the drive completely.
My dash needs something on it so a retro fit of a compass may be in order just for the looks alone.

I would love porsche to put sport mode on the PDK so a gentle tap changes it from the relevant modes.
I found that Audi did this very well and I was never searching for a button.

I haven't used Launch Control on my car either yet, but it was very dramatic on the PEC's Panamera! ;)

Regarding being brutal on the transmission, I gather that Porsche are confident that the oily bits are more than up to it. It can't be that brutal, as it 'only' reduces 0-60 times by 0.2 seconds!? And there's a video somewhere of a guy using LC on a 911 something like 100 times consecutively with apparently no ill effects on the car. :ugeek:
