Appproching lock down and need to make a decision on PSE. I have one on my 911 (991.2) and it doesn’t make a lot of difference unless I’m high up the rev range which is difficult on normal roads. I guess it’s because the exhaust gases go through the turbos first nowadays. The PSE does provide a loader bark on start up that is nice. Any body got a PSE on a Petrol S that can comment.
Thanks ....
Macan S - Sports Exhaust ?
Standard on my GTS and very nice too.....don’t think it’s £1600 nice though!
On the GTS (and I assume S) it does start to growl at lower revs and you get some nice pops in sport mode!

The PSE on your 991.2 should make a difference have you tried it in sport mode as that is when you get the crackles and pops. In Normal it don't happen.

I wouldnt pay £1,600 for PSE as I find it a bit “meh”. The exhaust is great on start up without it but it doesn’t do anything other than artificially improve the loudness of the exhaust. Got it as standard with the GTS and rarely turn it on

I thought about the sports exhaust but decided not to bother. The standard S exhaust has a nice burble on start-up and in sport mode I think it sounds just right. The SE at the OPC agreed with my decision and didn't even try to make me spec something else instead, he just said save your cash.
But these are personal decisions. If you think you'll regret not having it...

I'm 90% certain that the car sounds the same on start up with or without PSE. The start up roar is just a flap in the exhaust that all cars have. Spec PSE and you get the option to open the flap during normal driving. And have some sort of transducer amplify the exhaust noise through the chassis. Sounds sweet but it's all a bit fake.
It certainly makes no difference at start up whether you have PSE switched on or off.
I do like the sound of it switched on but the turbo sounds pretty awesome when you cane it anyway with PSE off so it is far from essential and on balance there were better things I could have spent my £1800 on. I really doubt I would spec it again.

Waste of money, I reckon.

I could be wrong, but I thought cars with PSE started with the loud flaps open for effect. I had it standard on my GTS and it certainly made quite a difference to the sound when on. I don't believe there was any artificial sound augmentation on the petrol Macans. Having said all this I think the GTS is a bit louder than a normal S, PSE or not.

Would I pay for it. NO....
But I would miss it if I didn’t have it
