I am due to take delivery of a new Macan turbo in the next month, but unfortunately my work circumstances have changed rather drastically and I don’t think it will be the right financial decision to buy a new car right now.
Does anyone know if cancelling the order at this stage will have any repercussions beyond losing the 3k deposit ? (I.e is there an implicit and binding commitment to buy the car once the order is placed)
I haven’t approached the dealer yet to ask...
Change in circumstances post order
Did you progress past your initial order which normally has a change of circumstances opt out?

Mind you if they sell it at full price I don't think they are entitled to keep your deposit.

I asked because as far as I know they usually want the 3k topped up to 10% on confirmation of order.

All that they can legally hold from you are any costs incurred. This can include the PEC any delivery charge and any loss in value to them up to the amount of deposit you’ve given.
I cancelled a golf GTE last month and got all £500 back. Took a while, but they’ve no real right to hold other than actual costs.
