^^^ Don’t know why, but I don’t get the impression that SEs make a lot from extras added to a car. Maybe because none of the sales staff I’ve dealt with worked too hard to bump up my options!? My overall impression is that what might add more to their bonus pot would be Porsche finance, wheel/tyre insurance, bodywork insurance, paint treatments etc... I believe that these add ons carry huge profit margins.

Regarding the product knowledge of SEs, it is nothing like as good as many of the learned contributors to this very forum! ;)

Col, to answer your 911-related question:

My Carrera T is my sole car. In its first 9 months, my car has covered 11,530 miles. That’s the equivalent to around 15,400 miles a year. Not only is that huge mileage for a 911, but it’s above average for the typical daily driver/commuter car and indeed it’s a lot more than many Macan drivers, judging from input on this forum since I first joined in 2015. :)

In fact Google tells me that according to RAC figures, the average privately owned petrol car in 2017 covered about 6,500 miles!

I have been told they Dont get commission on options. As stated this could be different at various OPC. Obviously there is more profit but not necessarily more commission.

I know from people in the know that numerous other manufacturers pay commission on the car sold. No matter what options or discount given. The commission amount is the same.
Commission on finance, wheel insurance etc is an important part for them.

The idea of forums imo is to bridge the gap between someone wanting to sell you something and make commission (understandable) and real life experience and advice which is what this particular form gives.
Best hands down imo 👍
