In yank land they call it a "backup camera" which I always find amusing. Is the main one prone to failure such that you'd need a backup?
It's also mandatory over there for new cars.

thanks for picking up the insurance, which I was too lazy to get an estimated quote compared to my Jag.
I have this option on my spec, I did wonder whether it worked in the same way as the rear windows i.e. a metal grid. Is that correct and just how visible is whatever it is that heats up the screen?
It uses very tiny metal filaments, embedded in the plastic lamination layer. You can see them clearly (assuming you have decent eyesight) but normally you're looking through them so your brain ignores them. I find with some directions of sunshine on the screen, the filaments can reflect and become intrusive - having a clean screen makes no difference. I have an "old banger" Freelander with a heated screen, and it still vaguely annoys me. The Macan has a fairly rapid engine warm-up, so even in very cold weather just sitting with the engine running for a few minutes should defrost the screen; and in any case it takes a similar time for the backlight and mirror heating to work.
thanks for reply. as I am still unsure the service schedule for Macan and so I taken major service into account.Nuclear Nick wrote: ↑Wed Jan 02, 2019 5:36 pm On servicing costs, would you do the major service just before selling or part exchanging the car?
I’d agree with others on the heated seats and 19” rims, especially for London.
Try to get an extended test drive to check which options you might like or to confirm which you can do without.
