In your experience, does altering the spec before the freeze/lockdown date affect (delay) the delivery date i.e. each time you change it, do you go to the back of the queue?

Not usually, but there's always the exception to the rule.

The nearer you are to the lockdown date, the greater the possibility that a spec change could cause a delay though.

Ask your OPC before confirming any spec changes, to see if a delay is likely to result. :)

I got an email from Porsche today with my VIN. Does that event (them giving me the VIN) give some indication as to where the car is - i.e. parked on their forecourt? The SE's on holiday this week.

No, but there are caveats.

The build date for the order from the OPC is fixed.

It seems that the build is for a specific model and variant, but just which customer gets that build can be variable.

Where you are on the OPC wait list is fluid, and dependent upon their customer profiles and past purchasing.

Until you Lockdown the specification you only have a tentative unconfirmed order.

Locking down the spec will mean that you have entered into a Contract with the OPC to buy the car and hence you are legally obliged to fulfil the Contract.

I had a deposit with a certain OPC they gave me an early build slot which did not fit my needs, I then passed on details of said build to a member here who took the build slot, so 7 weeks later he picked up his Turbo.
