I well remember doom blue but equally remember how white was frowned upon for many years.

^^^ Indeed, Mark. In the early days of my company car period (about 21 years) we were not allowed to order a white car, due to fears about the undesirability of white cars at auction or on the second hand market once they were three years old.

And I’m sure I heard of the police ordering silver cars, instead of white, for similar reasons.
