“Rigger
I thought people on this forum had experience with Porsche dealers, from your comment, that does not seem to be the case!!”

So... would the duty be applied to the import (dealer) price or the sales price? Big difference!

Surely applying any import tariff to the import price would make more sense? :geek:

The sale price is inflated by the dealer profit, not to mention VAT.

That would be logical but logic seems to have flown out of the window in our crazy world!

Import duty will be levied by HM Govt on the transaction value that Porsche U.K. is charged by Porsche AG for the supply of the vehicle including the deliverytransportation cost. Effectively this is the ex works cost plus delivery. The amount upon which import duty is levied is therefore considerably below the retail price of the vehicle which of course includes the margin of both Porsche U.K. and the supplying dealer not to mention VAT. If therefore Porsche were to add 10 % to the retail charge that would be significantly over and above the extra import duty. Having collected the import duty it is then up to HM Govt what they do with the tax whereas at the moment HM Government have to hand over 80% of the import tax collected to EU. By way of example all BMW X5s are imported from the US and therefore we are already used to paying import duty.

So it’s 10% on the OPC price - plus 20%!

Over to you Paul for the MOC Forum guide to dealer margins.

As presumably will the I-Pace at whatever the rate might be.

Notwithstanding all imported parts in U.K.-made vehicles.

All very positive, then.
