Thanks for the feedback. It appears that most would spend the 5k on wheels and an "S". Food for thought.

For my needs (I get my sportscar fix from the Cayman), a base Macan will be sufficient as it is replacing a diesel hatchback and I will probably go for middle ground on the wheels and stick with 19". This should give me a few thousand to tick a few extra boxes.

When you test drive a 2.0 and a 3.0S you will be able to decided if the small extra cost for the 6-cylinder is worth it. Have fun deciding ;)

I would also look at classifieds and ring a few neutral indies to see how easy it is so sell on a 2.0
2017 - Macan Turbo, with most of the toys (sold)
2008 - manual 997.1 Turbo (sold)

Two dealers told me that the 1st thing they look for when pricing a Macan coming in is decent wheels and a sunroof. Without that they are (relatively) hard to shift & the price offered will reflect that.
A 2.0 on std wheels with no sunroof is maybe not the best idea.

I’m sure there’s some truth in the relative ease of selling on models with such items, since big wheels and pano roofs do appear to be popular.

But in terms of what material difference it makes to trade in value, and how much of your extra spend you actually get back, that could be a different matter. When I experimented with the (non free) Parkers used car valuation tool recently, for a 3 year old Macan, the difference between big and standard wheels was only £750 (they would have cost about £2500). The difference on a pano roof was only £250 (cost about £1100 I think).
