Should I just wait for the GTS?
I agree that an S under £64000 is a compromise on wants against wallet.

Really?
Base price of a Macan S is £48,750.
Really saying that you need to spend at least £15,250 on options?
That’s over 31% of the base price, on options?

as wingco says ...S @ 48K or a GTS at (say) £58K.....GTS is far,far better vfm if residuals are your priority.
Spending nearly 1/3 of the basic price on options makes no (financial) sense!

Financial nightmare perhaps but I stand by my statement. Mine came in at about that with no Adaptive Cruise Control. Nothing fancy inside either.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 8:01 pmReally?

I have always thought that if your going to spend much more than 10% of the base price on options you should go for the next model up, should that be GTS, Turbo, or Turbo S. There are always bits on the next model up that aren't options on the lower versions.

I’ve noticed it’s very rare for forum members to spend as little as 10% on options, on a base or S at least. It’s common to see 25% or more.
On an S, 10% would only give you say metallic, pano, big wheels, 75lit. and power steering.
But you certainly lose out on depreciation, the more you spend on options.

When I was monitoring the one to two-year-old S and GTS market 12 to 6 months ago before I decided to place an order for a new S, my conclusion was well-specced cars did have higher asking prices all else being equal. In your 10 % limit car I would personally replace pano by PASM and possible Air. some say a reasonably specced car, in addition, needs heated seats, parking or surround camera and bose and some would add some driving aids and active cruise. That is getting to more like 20% before any body trim etc and I have not even mentioned the Colonel's heated wheel!!Makanik wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:36 amI’ve noticed it’s very rare for forum members to spend as little as 10% on options, on a base or S at least. Ultimately it depends whether the extra's that come with the GTS package are ones you want. Of the last GTS additions, sport design package would not be my choice. but the rest of the GTS additions were.- but then I would be adding several more options on top. some of those options like Air Suspension, surround view and 18 way seats are higher priorities for me than the GTS extras and if the budget was limited I would prefer those to a GTS.
I decided the improvements of facelift Macan made that car more attractive to me than an existing GTS especially at the prices being asked last Autumn. I wanted a Car by this Easter and was not prepared to wait until Easter 2020. I am not ruling out being in the market for a GTS in spring 2022 but by then I suspect as possibly in 2020 availability may be severely restricted by emission penalties or A Corbin government will have outlawed their purchase or even use!!

I understand that a GTS has a lot of specifically sporty options that are not to everyone's taste, but still think that if you add 25 to 30% of base price on a S you would be close to a turbo which has a lot of the less sports options as standard and will retain it value much better.
