Picked up my S today

Looking forward to the weekend when I get the chance to enjoy it fully.

Interestingly I asked about the running in period and the salesman said no need! That is different advice compared to what I’ve read on here

Lovely looking machine 👍👍👍

The salesman hasn't just paid £60,000 for a car....

They are not difficult to run in - take it easy and stick to the speed limits :D :D

Keep below 4000 rpm for first 3000 km, and long trips are better than lots of cold starts during this period.

Congratulations. The handbook has a section on running in.I am a great believer in running in a new car,as I still think it makes a difference to the car in the long run

Many congrats! :)

Salesman doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He’s a sales person & not a technician. I very much doubt if an experienced Porsche Service Manager would give you the same answer.

Here’s a screenshot from the Good To Know app...

I was advised to vary the revs as much as possible. My first trip home was 50 miles along a motorway, so it was difficult to vary revs without using different gears.

It’s towards the bottom of the “Same driving pleasure...” section.

That’s the problem with Good to Know - difficult to find things due to the limited search functionality

Also:

"All new tyres need a running-in period. To run in your tyres, you should drive at moderate speeds during the first 125-200 miles, in order to improve long term tyre performance.

Until you have adapted your driving style to the new tyres, rapid accelerations and sudden braking during the first miles are not recommended."

Applies to brand new cars and when fitting a replacement new pair / set.
