Flagged future issues are 1) rear tyres perishing (kerb dragging) not critical but... . 2) discs & pads and 3) blocked rear drainage ducts. If I wanted to extend the warranty this would be due next year.
So what other likely issues and costs (estimated figures) am I likely to incur over the next 1-3 years. And if we imagine say the £25K - £30K needed for a new S how do these figures compare?
Forward planning
Yes... clearly it would not come close to the expense of a new one, notwithstanding the extra VEL, but after 3-4 years of relatively little overhead the spectre of ongoing repairs and maintenance leaves me uncomfortable. On the plus side there are the loaners to look forward to.
The other looming issue is that the next gen Macan will be EV and unless there’s a mammoth amount of infrastructure investment or we move house - which won’t happen - makes life very difficult.
So we either look to run Kitty for many years or until Big Brother stops me driving or imposes inhibitive measures or...

33600 Also please see my response to Paul, above.MikeM wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 8:47 am How many miles have you on it? If you have another years warranty you could sell it on with it now, you can make a relatively simple calculation on cost of change now versus potential cost in say two years Thats the financial argument sorted. Then there’s the emotional, do I want one now, are the changes enough to tempt me or do I wait for the next generation I’ve been through the same at +3 years, withdrew my deposit, will look once next gen is released and for the meantime bought a Lotus with the cash saved

Hi Simon. Yes the service price should have double! Miles driven 3360. And yes, there is very little logic at play.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 10:55 amHi Mike,Dandock wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 7:58 pm Kitty turns 4 next week and has just had her MOT and 4 year service so I’m +/- £400 lighter.

Only £400 for the 4-year service and MOT?!
How many miles has Kitty done?
As Paul says, it is impossible to make a financial case that it’ll be cheaper to trade Kitty in for a new model. It’s all down to ‘man maths’! Ask me how I know!
From a budgetary perspective, it’s cheaper to keep Kitty indefinitely. There are numerous Porsches around with stellar mileages on them, still running happily.
What’s tempting you?
Cheers,
What’s tempting me - please see response to Paul, above.
Ed. Mrs D had fallen in love with the Cayenne Coupe. And a visit to OPC always equals lust.

Yes, a good independent is indeed an option. There’s a long established in Cheltenham but I’ve no idea of the reputation.pmg wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2020 1:01 pmYes I have seen prices up from £200. But for the quality Kitty deserves £450

I know when my Macan reaches three years I will make a decision about warranty extension and I cannot see myself parting before 5 unless there is a substantial improvement in battery range and fast charger availability. At 5 years and beyond, if I haven't already moved from OPCat three, I would be looking for a good Porsche independent service specialist

As others have said you will never get a spreadsheet to predict it makes sense to change unless you have a cell with a massive "I want one" factor

My SD is due its 4 year service April on fools day. The OPC have quoted me £1,150 the mileage will be approx 27K just 10k more than the 2 year service. Can anyone confirm if this is typical Porsche pricing?
It also has the extended warranty as I have no intention of selling particularly now I am a low mileage user and still find it such a nice motor. The MOT was renewed last week.

My SD was serviced at 4 years, 21k miles for £783, including MOT and brake fluid change. I didn't need the PDK oil change (not enough miles) but that will be due at 6 years together with the next intermediate service. Perhaps they have included PDK in your quote?Angling Mad wrote: ↑Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:22 pm My SD is due its 4 year service April on fools day. Thanks for the feedback. They seem much more realistic figures for the work required. I will go check in with them as to what is included in the quote.
