In the old forum, every image we uploaded for inclusion in a post was in our own file upload area and could be deleted, and potentially replaced if you're careful.

Now all those images have been migrated to a 'converted' space that we have no apparent control over.

Eg this one www.macanforums.co.uk / images / converted_files / uploads / 923/flac.jpg
( images/converted_files/uploads/923/flac.jpg )

If we edit/delete the posts referencing these 'converted_files' do they get removed too?

And on a similar subject, it appears that our avatars have been migrated by linking them to a migrated files store here: images/converted_files/avatars

I was going to change mine, but realised that the current 'linked' Avatar is of a much higher resolution (original file size) than the rather limited 90x90, 6Kb limit for new avatar uploads. Can I only have a higher resolution avatar if I link from another image site?

It appears so. You could reference a gravatar perhaps or something else.
I just made mine smaller because I hate having a post dominated by a vanity pic!

I can probably increase the file size as 6kb is a bit small but do think 90x90 is about right for maximum size.

Just got mine down to 3.1kB!

(Also aware that I seem to have hijacked Goron's question somewhat! Sorry!)

90px is 5.5mm on my phone. We've come a long way since 176x184 screens were considered the height of sophistication!

Rob, any chance of allowing the avatars to be a bit more 'detailed' than 90 x 90?

Cheers

Had a look and it seems standard sizes for avatars are 117x117 so I can set it to that.

I think they scale down on mobiles anyway.
