Hi all

Just looking for some feedback from Macan owners, if they have either had or test driven the Jag 3.0 Petrol V6S (380ps model) c.2017
How did you find it and how does the Jag compare to the Macan 3.0 Petrol S (340ps) c.2014/15 model?

Brief backstory - We are waiting for a 111 check to be done on a private sale 2014 Macan S (Petrol) to add extended warranty (there is an OPC backlog so we are having to wait  ). Whilst we continue to wait patiently, a look through the classifieds suggests a 2017 F Pace V6S (Petrol) can be had for similar money. Subject to the Macan being eligible for Warranty it will be my wife’s new car no question, however from a ‘value’ point of view the Jag proposition makes a strong case as a used alternative - newer in terms of age, hopefully better tech inside and a slightly more powerful engine.

Am I mad to consider the F Pace, just in case the Macan purchase doesn’t happen for any reason.
(I know the Macan GTS/Turbo will easily be better than the Jag but they are out of budget as a replacement car for the good lady - it will be used mainly for shopping, school runs, etc (thus no Macan SD consideration)

Thanks for reading my rambling

Not convinced Jag tech is any better (or reliable) but you will get 'value' with regards to kit. It does not drive as well. Residuals? Meah.

I have had F-Pace cars loaned whilst my F-Type was in a couple of times for warranty issues and servicing.
Driving dynamics, build quality, trim materials, squeaks and rattles in the F-Pace are night and day away from the Macan I now own.

Hate to say it but JLR lag a long way behind Porsche, although I still love my F-Type and it will be a keeper.

I think a lot of F Pace owners would love to be in a Macan. There’s a reason that JLR are bottom in most reliability tables. Stick with the Macan.

If it’s only for shopping and school runs IMHO I’d get much newer, either a Tiguan 2.0 R Line Tech or a XC60 (petrol or hybrid), better build quality than the F Pace, good presence, more economical and If the Macan you are looking at is a 2014 both will definitely have better tech. Suggest you make sure the Macan has at least Bi Xenon head lights.

If the Macan/F-Pace is only being used for local runs then don't consider either - look at electric.

I have a 2018 Macan SD and a friend has a 2018 2.0 diesel F pace. I have been in his F pace a number of times . The F pace creaks and rattles like an old bus by comparison. The interior looks nice enough and there is more rear leg room but that’s about the only positive. Even my wife who has zero interest in cars has told me that the F pace is not in the same league as the Macan.
