It would niggle me forever so I would pass on it.

Toddie wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2020 7:16 pm Rob, for what it is worth my Macan S had both bumpers & boot lid repainted by Porshe OPC when I bought and the colour match is spot on. It was only cosmetic painting not damage to metal work other than a scratch which would not compound out as it was too deep. I said to you that the colour really popped in the sunshine.
You were certainly right about the colour!

There is a slight imperfection in the door when looking along it, so not just a scratch. I will have a discussion with the OPC, maybe leave a refundable deposit if I am not happy.

Porsche paint some part of the front of many of their second hand sales. When I bought a three year old Boxster S a few years and the whole front, bonnet wings and front panel had been painted due to chips. To tell the truth in a harsh light it wasn't the best job, good colour match but a lot of orange peel, to my critical eye but no one else ever noticed it and the specialist dealer was happy with it when I sold it to him three years later.

Believe me, there is no orange peel on the Paintwork that the OPC did on my car, otherwise they would have kept it! I am very OCD!

Yep that’s true. I do have car condition OCD and even the slightest mark would bug me. If the paint was poor I would notice it every time I drove the car and it would spoil the car for me.

Probably my best course of action is to get them to do the repaint, even with a refundable deposit and if I am not 100% happy walk away.
I have asked them to contact the previous owner to see if he would advise on why the repair happened, but that may not achieve anything.
Time to sleep on it, but reality is every car I have seen at an OPC has needed some paintwork.

Agreed. The OPC planned to repaint the front of my Panamera 4 when I traded it in. It was a year old with 17k miles on the clock. They basically wanted the paintwork to look as good as new. They also factored in a replacement headlight, due to it being slightly chipped. A risk of a lot of motorway mileage, I guess.

Their OPC bodyshop manager came over and looked at the doors.
Whilst not being able to 100% guage what has happened, he feels it's a car park brush on the two panels and a Chips Away type smart repair.
They will repaint the panels and have guaranteed I will not see the difference to the original paint on the rear wing and bonnet. Deposit fully refunded if I am not 100% happy when the work is complete. They will also put it on the ramps taking off the undershield so I am happy that there are no signs of any oil leaks after my last episode.
Improved PX offer and a few other bits thrown in so I really had nothing to loose and paid the deposit today.
Hope my OCD is satisfied when checking the work.
Thanks to everyone for their advice, hope I have found a good one this time.

Enjoy your new car, another advantage of the Carrara White is that it doesn’t show the muck, mine has a ceramic coating on it, and most of the road crap just washes off with the rain, or a quick blast with a pressure washer.
