Thoughts on the two?

I've got bodycare included for free, wondering if its worth asking about upgrading to gtechniq?

Never heard of body care but I have Gtechniq and am very happy with it. As you probably know, it’s a specialist job which I doubt any dealer would do.

The 'free' offer sounds like a Supagard / Autoglym / Diamondbrite alternative that costs the dealers pennies. My wife has it done on her cars but I think it is a rip-off and a waste of money. At least I don't have to wax her car......

Gtechniq done professionally is different kettle of fish

This is what I have, it took a whole week and I have the inside coated too. Definitely worth it and saves washing the car too often, also really does stop the bird poo damaging the paint.

First question is this a brand new car?
If no then are you getting this car from a Porsche dealer?

The reason I ask is because one of my closest friends has a detailing place here in London and I spend a lot of time there so I know what goes into various details.
My 911 I picked up two weeks ago is with him at the moment getting a 3 stage machine polish followed by a 3 stage ceramic coating plus windows and interior protection.
This is a minimum 3-5 day process with at least 20+ hours of labour involved.
Prices start from £300 up to £2k plus for a full treatment.

I very much doubt that any dealer that charges upwards of £140 plus hourly labour are going to spend that amount of time preparing the car to a standard that would then be beneficial to a ceramic coating.

I would suggest try getting other freebies of them for that sort of value and then take the car to a reputable detailer to get the car done properly.

Yes. New car from Porsche East London.

Given the fact they were so quick to throw in the body care for free (I didn't even ask), I get the feeling this is a product they market at 500 so they seem generous giving it to you for free!

I imagine it's something they spray over and polish, maybe an hour tops, as part of the initial prep.

As already stated, a number of different brand names used but It’s basically a one coat wax protection and a package of cleaning products (not at all worth the quoted cost) often thrown in as FOC and okay if you don’t plan on doing anything else. As Uni11 stated, if you want a long lasting and complete new car detail such as Gt, take it to a professional detailer and be prepared (dependent on scale) for a four figure cost.

Take it to a proper Detailing company and get it done there. Gtechniq is good stuff and recommended but it needs to be applied by a detailing specialist, not a dealer.

The GTechniq Platinum service is done by specifically trained dealer staff. I consider it a protection service rather than a paint fault correction and protection service. It was designed by Gtechniq as an intermediate offering.

I strongly suspect most OPC's offering a more expensive full detailing service drive the car around the corner to the local detailer subcontracting the work and if considering such the purchaser should make an enquiry to establish who and be able to check their reputation.

There is some advantage in having the work done before taking delivery of the car and then immediately losing it for a week.
