Hi All

Just wondering what the thoughts of the forum are on Porsche Car Connect.

I have had a free trial that is now ending. Does anyone carry on with it or is it just a gimmick?

I'd appreciate any comments.

Cheers

It was active when we bought our car and we were happy to renew it when it expired.

It's worth it for us for the Google searching and live traffic. The petrol prices app is a nice bonus too.

I think you will find that is "Porsche Connect". "Porsche Car Connect" is the App that gives you car location. lock status, fuel range service intervals and tyre pressures when away from vehicle.

Not very sensible of Porsche to use two similar names for them.

As an android phone user and hence no Carplay, I am likely to renew "Porsche Connect" for live traffic, map updates, google search and Apps.

Also, I do use " "Porsche Car Connect" so despite the price I will renew it with Vodaphone. I can see owners who do not use it regularly letting it lapse.

Good point well made pmg - I have both here and they have the same renewam date, so often forget which one is which. We've got PVTP in there too.

Am I right in thinking PCC shows you car lock status but not the ability to lock the car remotely?

Shows the lock status on my March ‘18 911 but doesn’t lock the car remotely. It was the same with my MY’17 Macan. Could be that facelift cars are different.

If you go back to the very early Macans, Porsche Connect was the name of the app that came with PVTS (initially from Cobra then Vodaphone). I agree that the similar names is confusing, particularly as the meaning has changed.

Edit: Sorry, forget what I said above. I've just checked on an old phone and the app had a label that said Car Connect even if the app image had the Porsche badge with "Porsche Connect" under it

My 2018 1st Gen can both check and lock from the app. Can't unlock, just lock.
