This is a quandry for me also - I am considering the 21s and cant get a test drive on these - I am having my first test drive on Friday - the vehicle will have 20s, PASM and Steels.......I wait to see what I think however I am coming from a car with 20s lowered on coilovers so I am sure it will feel less jarring than that!

Silverstone OPC have white diesel S with 21"Air as demotest car....if you need to test drive one. Fully loaded.

That's useful to know it's just a bit of a trek though from London - I will see if I can fit it in if I am up in that neck of the woods

You will be amazed at how refined it is. Smoother than a Merc but with much better handling. Enjoy!

As I want to avoid any wheel over 19", (bad road scenario) my dealer advises me that 19 and PASM ride well, I'm struggling to find owners with 18 to obtain their feedback, I believe 18's at dealers a rare as hens teeth. Most demos seem to be 20's. Also say I think in Australia that an air system replacement cost 3000$, I further understand that Porsche air systems are better than many, discovery ones are likewise expensive to replace.

Car looks wrong with anything less than 20"s in my opinion... 21"s all the way for me, on steel too, I couldn't justify the added cost of air for a better off-road performance.

My car has air suspension. I also was told that it's less problematic then standard with PASM. We have a bumpy, poorly surfaced B road between us and my Leicester OPC and when my car went in for remedial work we had a loan car was on springs/PASM. We felt every bump and camber in that car on the way home. What a difference, even the wife commented, my car just wafts over the bumps. Air for me again next time, first box I'll tick.

I agree, the car looks "Underwheeled" otherwise

Agree with Mistertoad.

I have done a quick calculation of the actual diameter of the wheels with tyres mounted and there is very little in it. If you go from 18" to 19" you gain at most 2mm and if you move up to 20" or 21" add another 5mm at most. The only main overwhole difference is the width of the tyres:
same for 18" and 19" : 235 at front 255 at rear
same for 20" and 21" : 265 at front 295 at rear

So visually there will be no real difference in filling the wheel arch.

It looks like lots of people here seem to consider that 20" or 21" are a must but could somebody let me know if there is a proven benefit in performance (which would make me forget the easier kerbing damage)?
