External covers

I bought my new Macan S early in December, and it's too big to fit in the garage, so has to live out on the driveway.

I am thinking about getting external covers, but understand there are pros and cons.

Does anyone have views on this?

Leave it out uncovered. ANY cover requires the paintwork to be perfectly clean otherwise wind blow will cause marks as road grit between the paintwork and cover will marr the finish. Save the money for two buckets and a load of car shampoo................

I wouldn’t bother - likely cause more damage than good outside

This topic has been covered before and, as with so much on the forum, opinions vary. There are Porsche external and soft covers and those in favour of covering their cars seem to recommend using both.

Personally, I'm with those who say leave it uncovered. The seven of my cars I've had since 1997 have all lived outside and have never suffered any harm.

Anyhow, from one of your other posts, you seem to enjoy cleaning your car

If your using the car frequently, you’ll potentially cause more damage removing and refitting. Really only beneficial if long periods of non use and as already been said car needs to be cleaned beforehand. Can also in some instances get some condensation build up. A good paint protection should be enough.
