So, car is 1 year old on 01 March and last week notification appeared stating Oil Service needed in one month (so end of Jan....).

Was aware of the new schedule for an Oil Service after year 1; and then the usual Service at 2 years. However, my question is whether the Oil Service is needed to maintain validity of the warranty, etc?

I appreciate that an annual Oil Service is recommended, but after c.6k miles was wondering if I miss it out..?!

I assume it has come up because you’ve not done a big mileage ?

It’s not expensive so just do it

Audi engine............................ although annual ooil change is a good idea especially if mileage is low.........

My 2017 Panamera 4 wanted (and got) its first oil change at 10k miles after only about 7 months from new! Mostly motorway miles too! 🤪 If I recall correctly, it was about £300.

And, yes - get it done. :)

Thanks guys.

Yes, was leaning towards just getting it done, but thought I’d get views from those who have owned for longer.

Cheers all 👍

It's not just (low) mileage p.a., but also if the engine has been regularly brought up to full working temperature (c90C) during those miles.

I've only done this mileage in 7 months, but it shows oil service due....

Just done a Google search to check my thoughts....here's what I found:

"Generally speaking, optimum sump temperature is 80-100C. Sump temperatures up to ~120C are ok, albeit with increased oil oxidation.

Oil warm up is slow-much slower than coolant. 15-20 minutes from cold start would be a ball park figure. Oil temperature sensors located in the oil return line give a false perception since the important figure during warm-up is the temperature of the oil entering the system.

The optimum sump oil temperature is dependant on how heavily the engine is loaded (optimum temperature inversely proportional to load).

Optimum oil temperature also depends on engine speed (optimum temperature increases with RPM)

There's not a great deal you can do to tightly control the temperatures but if you go easy for the first 10-15 minutes, you'll minimise wear.

Oil temperature has a strong dependancy on RPM, so you can use engine braking to help warm up the oil if you're concerned."

Oil seems to get up to temp (I look out for 90 degrees too) quicker in Normal mode than in Sport mode. Also, when up to temp, the average temp stays around 90-95 in Sport, but in Normal, often goes up to 105-110 degrees.

I find in the Macan it takes an age for the oil to warm up, the 911 is a bit quicker

I find myself driving away from the office when I leave the house in the morning to just to get some heat in the oil!
