Another Transfer Box bites the dust

So the car is in for it's 2nd service today (34K, almost 4 years old) and I just got the call to say the transfer box needs replacement. It was jerking a little when coming out of a junction. Almost like it was raising it's rear leg! When cold the front wheels would jerk too.

Lucky for me I do have a Porsche warranty so it's not going to cost me at all beyond the normal service cost.

On the plus side, I do have a nice 718 Boxster S on the drive. Just a pity I can't drive it due to lockdown...................

Sorry to hear your news :(

General question: Does anyone know what % of Macans have been affected by this issue?

TIA

There are several threads, and one in particular, discussing this type of failure in the other Macan forum!

Sorry to hear that. Any idea how long the repair will take?

The box is coming tomorrow and it takes about 3 hours to fit.

Mine was in for 2 days, mainly waiting for the new box. My TB went at 35K, seems from reading previous post that's the commonest mileage, 30-40k.

My car is in for the 4 year service next Monday (currently on 27000 miles) . I've noticed a slight judder when the box is changing up in town traffic , will be interesting to see whether the OPC mentions anything after a test drive (if they do one !!) . I'm covered by the warranty so no problem really.

I remember reading on here that the transfer box is covered by a 7 year warranty in the uk. Is this correct?

If you check your VIN data sheet it will show you. It should be 7 years.

I got the car just under a year old from OPC. Not sure if I got a VIN data sheet...what does it look like?! :?
