When I looked at these torque and power curves a few weeks ago, I came to the conclusion most of any extra performance of current turbo over current GTS came at very high revs and probably illegal UK road speeds. The turbo's torque is no higher at most revs the plateau just extends to higher revs.

I would argue only those who regularly travel at very high German Autoban speeds could justify paying the extra for the Turbo over GTS

But dont forget they are completely different cars - the GTS more geared up for handling, the Turbo is probably comfier? (Guessing)

Maybe, but so many possible suspension choices. If both on 20 wheels, is there a lot of difference say between a GTS in PASM sport setting and a Turbo say with air in low and set to sports plus?

And when Cobb get round to mapping the GTS it'll be quicker than the stock Turbo https://www.cobbtuning.com/products/acc ... -gts-turbo

Not compared the new Engine Turbo but definitely old Turbo v New GTS, with the previous 3.6 engine packed a bigger punch and yes a gentler standard ride. The new GTS is firmer with feel /response and sounds much sportier. Both great cars although I would say the GTS is better value for money and both are more than enough for most drivers as potential fast licence killers

What are the actual differences between the engines in the GTS and the turbo?
Is it just the turbo and mapping or does the turbo engine have uprated internals such as crank conrods, pistons and valve sizes, etc. does anyone know? Is the transmission uprated too?

I would have thought it was just mapping on the whole - no point developing a new engine

Given that the GTS is a downrated version of the Turbo (as the Turbo came first), I'd agree with the suggestion that the only difference is mapping.

I drove both and couldn't detect much power difference up to sane speeds

The GTS felt slightly more nimble and tied down.

Both are great though 👌
