Hiya,
Some weight to this; I've driven an Accord for 6years with a tube of toothpaste and a compressor for insurance. The only time I came close to using it was when I managed to ding both rims and (new, would you believe it) tyres on one side and a single spare wouldn't have helped me. Besides, I imagine the fuel savings over 6 years @ 20k p.a. might have gone some way to paying for the flat bed to take me to the garage. Don't know that the replacement rims saw any of that though!
That said, I've just included a collapsible spare in my own spec. - it's the easiest way to deflate the price at the point of purchase...
Cheers!

Ref an earlier point, even with the collapsible tyre does it follow that a jack and suitable tools does come with the car!. ps if your kids tossed for the tyre it could have come with suggestion for some hard earned sterling to ease the squishing.
Jack, wheel brace bar, and locking wheel nut key all come in a roll up bag strapped in place above puncture repair liquid in the the boot behind a removable panel ,passenger side,,

So old fashioned to have the spare sitting on the kids lap! Kids in the boot, tyre safely strapped into a safety belt on the rear bench, which, of course has some protective sheet...

You wonder why they cannot accommodate a proper spare wheel.
A puncture is bad enough, but if it happens, I would not know what to do with a collapsible spare?
It would be nice to have practise, but.......
I'd almost be tempted to blow it up in advance, and keep it in the boot.
