Keeping for a long time - ongoing running costs

That's a good point - essentially I feel self-insuring is a more efficient approach. Porsche extended warranty is essentially an insurance product as well as the third party providers.

If you've decided to keep it for a long time, what made you decide against extending the warranty?

Like MCS, I "self insured". My repair costs in the final two years for warranty eligible items was £1,250 though it could easily be more than that if it hadn't been for a dealer contribution. £1440 buys you two years peace of mind but whether it saves you money is a matter of luck.

Also having a Porsche warranty can prevent you from using independent specialist for non-warranty work potentially adding to total cost of ownership.

As already stated an extended warranty is insurance and is a personal choice based on attitude to risk. I like the security of having a Porsche warranty but not sure if I will renew when it expires. I'll have to see how risk adverse I feel at the time!

That’s very true but I’ve weighed it up and at around £1.97per day for 24 months I like the peace of mind

The warranty, as I have found out, is worth its weight in gold.

I’ll certainly be extending mine when the time comes.
