Rear lights water ingress
Has anyone on here had an issue with water ingress into their rear light fittings on the tailgate. The light fitting does seem to have some movement on it, ie you can push it into the tailgate a bit, on the other side which is not effected you can’t move it. Don’t know whether it is water or really bad condensation, either way there is water in there.

Damp air condensation, exactly what happens inside the transfer gearbox contaminating the oil and damaging the clutch plates.

So @Rab J I am not dissing what you say, but why is it not doing it on the other side? I believe that the unit is a sealed LED light unit if so then why is it admitting water. There are no bulbs to change according to the handbook, so how does the water get in, even if it is condensation?

The lenses are not sealed, although I'm not saying whether or not they are meant to be "why?" because mine have a couple of bugs that have crawled in there and died!

Thanks for that, I had seen that thread on the other forum, so took a photo of the offending tail light and sent to my OPC, after discussion the car is being collected next Tuesday for examination & hopefully rectification under warranty. I will report back after the event. The light unit seems quite loose in the tailgate, so will see what the cause is hopefully.PSEE wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 9:06 pm Covered in the other Macan forum:

Not totally conclusive but interesting

I had exactly this problem on a 20-year-old VW Polo - a loose tail-light allowed water in through the gap between light and bodywork. Easy 10 minute fix that involved tightening the fittings - I hope the Macan is as straightforward

You may find that the lenses are not completely sealed, they need to breath due to the expansion and contraction of the air within them, depending on whether the lights are on or not. Any water that gets inside, when hot will cause the water to begin to evaporate and film the inside of the lense. Sounds like its a bad fitting grommet, somewhere at the inside rear of the lense.
