Hi all,
As per the title, what is the opinion on buying;
Gen 1 2018 Macan S
Or
Gen 2 2019 Macan
They are both around the same price. It's the performance of the S Vs the updated Macan
Before this I was happy enough driving a 2000 ford focus so performance isn't the main driving factor per say. But then as my first Porsche purchase I do feel there could be some regret in getting the 2.0 litre engine. I don't drive to work so my mileage is low. Also thinking of residuals in say 3 years.
Thanks
2018 Gen 1 Macan S or a 2019 Gen 2 Macan
What is the spec on the cars in question? Do you have any links?
A poverty spec Macan S isn't going to be as good as a fully loaded Macan even with the extra grunt of the bigger engine.
The 2.0 is no slouch and is a great car even though most on here will tell you otherwise.
What is the primary use of the car?

A family car. Moved from the ford focus to leasing a Mercedes a class saloon when the baby came along but now looking to buy.
The S is relatively well spec'd compared to the macan

Another vote for the S! No pano roof, it has the 18-ways, sport exhaust, air suspension, carbon trim, Sport Chrono... And of course the 3.0 6-cylinder engine!

The S with its V6 engine is going to feel a lot more special to drive than the 4-cylinder base.
Take with a pinch of salt all those criticising a low spec car. At the end of the day it's a Macan and you can enjoy the strength of the basic design (power, handling, ride comfort) without having to worry about, for example, a leaking pan roof.

I'd go for the S because of the much better spec. Unlike others, I'd see the lack of a pano roof as a minus point but the much better spec and the V6 engine overrides that.Alex_F wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 8:24 am A family car.
