I was in a similar situation last month and I opted for the Gen 2 facelift Macan over the Gen 1.

I don't do much driving so it is ideal for me. And the 2.0 does have some punch when you need it. Mine has the sport chrono pack, so it is fun when you want it to be. Otherwise it's fine for pottering around town at low speeds.

PCM in Gen 2 is better, can’t see the rear and not sure you are allowed to compare such anymore 🙄🤐

I think we are saying that both have their merits. Personally the PCM means nothing to me as long as it has bluetooth and DAB, thats all I'm really interested in, that massive screen dominates the dashboard in the GEN 2 which isnt necessarily a good thing.
I think I would favour a really decent gen 1 over a mediocre gen 2

+1 Agreed the new light bar is a feature of all new Porsches ,so those without are looking dated, just the effect Porsche wants I am sure - just my opinion, like wheels and colours, personal preference.

IMO the pano roof should be the decider, given the use to which you will put the car and the fact you have a family to put in it. No pano means the interior is, as others have said, gloomy and more so in the back. You will have a lot of fun it it, whichever you choose.

This is indeed quite subjective, we specifically bought a Gen 1 to avoid the lightbar. We don't like it and think the previous lighting cluster with actually age better over time.

It was actually the way I convinced my wife to "bite the bullet", it was her last chance to get one of those Macans she likes.

Colour is a huge factor here, I think the gen 2 looks better in some of the other colours, particularly the newer ones like crayon.
