Hi all,
Over the last 3 months, I've noticed that We Buy Any Car have been bombarding me with messages that appear to show a rise in valuation for my Mk 1 14.2k miles 2017 GTS.
I have been checking on Auto Trader too and Mk 1s do indeed seem to be holding their value with similar cars advertised at circa £50k. And Mk 2s are premium priced of course.
Maybe the market is talking and telling Porsche not to push EVs too much as part of their long term strategy.
Macan GTS mark 1 value appreciating?
I’ve had similar from wbac for my 540i today.... now higher offer than they gave me in October!

The price of most decent second hand cars has been rising in the past six months. Supply and demand thing I think. Great time to sell, not so good to buy.

Common WBAC tactic but you have to look at their offers in the first instance. OPC’s are notorious for low bids but in my experience still far better by £1000’s than WBAC? Some may have had different but personally lots better buyer prices to be had out there. Wizzle is a good starting point or Autotrader value suggestions. Agree though that current second hand demand is rising, its Spring and were hopefully soon coming out of lockdown. Lot of pent up demand, people with extra cash and if you have a desirable car you should get a good price.

When you take it for valuation, they will knock shedloads off. WBAC I understand are operated by BCA and are looking to buy at under auction price, then punt onto the (mostly) dealers? Convenient way to sell, but on a smaller scale, I just offloaded my Dads Golf Diesel to a local 2nd hand dealer, for a better price.
Back on topic, I've noticed that the SD market on Parkers etc seems to be holding up, although not sure what the actual transactions volume is?

Really insightful responses as usual on this forum.
I think the value of Macan gen1 and gen2 models will hold up longer term. Partly because of their rarity once (if) electric cars dominate car supply.

Hi
Sorry, just jumped on the forum again after a while and saw these posts. So I thought I'd contribute.
I've been monitoring the value of my Diesel since last August using WBAC and I too have been surprised that values seem to be rising since last year, rather than falling.
August 2020 £29900 (Porsche Bournemouth offered £31500 at the same time)
December 2020 £30400
March 2021 £30195
April 2021 £31000
Notwithstanding WBACs tactics, which we could expect to be the same at whatever time of year allowing for seasonal variations, there does seem to be something going on with used values. It's like the used market went into suspended animation when the pandemic hit.
I've also had a mail from Bournemouth OPC just now asking me if I want to sell my car, as they're looking for cars.
What I find encouraging and frankly surprising, is that Diesel values are definitely holding up, as confirmed by the above and by retail prices, both of which seem to be little changed since this time last year.
Of course, it could be that prices were artificially depressed last year and that the fact they remain similar now is simply a levelling out.
All very interesting!
