Hi All
Just wondering what’s the best way to prevent rear bumper area by door from scratches
Is a rubber strip better than the clear film
Are the official Porsche parts the best ?
Or are there good alternatives out there?
Thanks
Rear bumper protector
Hi - I got my local detailer to fit the Porsche protector (PPF clear film) which I bought from eBay. It does the job, is relatively cheap and unobtrusive so suited me best for the odd potential knock from cases etc. Not sure it would be great for dogs etc though?
I have a black plastic rigid protector, it’s been there from new as the first owner had a dog. It blends with the other black parts of the car and looks like it should be there.

I’ve only just seen this topic and hope our experience may be useful, if only for information. Every time we use our car my husband’s dog comes along with us. She is a long slim, German Shepherd / Golden Retriever cross and weighs 36 kg.
When our car was new, (4 years ago), we had a RGM Rear bumper protector fitted by Exclusive Car Care (Detailer) at the time the car was coated. We supplied the protector which is attached with double sided tape. I imagine it could be installed by a competent Diy'er. The protector has protected and lasted well, still looking new, not faded. In comparison, at a similar time we also fittted the OEM BMW i3 boot lip protector to our i3, (which also carrys the dog). Although the BMW protector has prevented straches it has faded from black to light grey over the 4 years. Both cars are always kept extremly clean.
I choose the the black plastic finish believing it tied in well with the Volcano Grey paint, other finishes are available and at the time the company sent a sample card with the different finishes.
If you don't like stick on protectors, I use the load carpet out of our old Mk1 Q5? It is a 2 piece affair, with a fold in the middle. You set it so the felt side lays on the bumper when loading/unloading etc. We've had it since the 1st Q5 in 2010 and it fits the boot nicely? Not sure if Porsche offer similar, but I guess it would be pricey if they did?

Carbon fibre look RGM one for me....installed myself in less than 5 mins and 6 months on showing no signs of wear at all. I could never be bothered with the pull down flap as it was always in the way.

This is my preferred alternative, fully protects interior and bumper, have used now with no damage or marking whatsoever in two cars over 5 years.
