I have (and enjoy) a Macan Diesel S but tempted to change in the next yr or so (more space would be nice and just fancy a change).
I have liked the torque of the Diesel engine for these heavy cars so am considering the 4.2 V8 torque monster that is the Cayenne DS - has anyone here compared the two for driving experience? I’m a keen driver so the enjoyment is important. Any thoughts or general feedback welcome!
Thanks!
Macan Diesel S or Cayenne Diesel S - any opinions?
I had a Cayenne Diesel S as a loaner for one day (when I still had my Macan SD) and the straight line acceleration was awesome. It's nose heavy compared to the Macan (and the Cayenne diesel I owned for two years) but that V8 engine is heavy. Obviously it burns more fuel than the Macan SD.
If the car you look at is a Euro 6 model then the AdBlue tank is filled from within the boot (Under the spare wheel) which is not as convenient a the Macan.
Yes the Cayenne is bigger than the Macan but not as big as the third generation Cayennes.

I had a Cayenne Coupe Hybrid on loan for 3 weeks and really didn't take to it. It had 4000 miles on the clock and maybe had been abused but it didn't drive well on the motorway. Macan for me is plenty big enough. Cayenne also had haptic controls which whilst gimmicky is just something else to go wrong

Depends why you may need a bigger car
If you need more space then it’s a great car and best in class
If you don’t then it will fee big and not drive as well as Macan

I had a Cayenne S Petrol as a loaner this week. I just feels so much bigger on the outside and not in a nice way. I was so glad to get back in the Macan S D. It was like driving a huge boat. So yes it's bigger but to me the driving experience just isn't as good. With the Macan you sit in it, in the Cayenne you sit on it.......................
I did however average 32mpg out of it which was quite impressive!

The Cayenne Diesel S is a second generation model. There are differences in size between that and the current Cayenne. The latest model is nearly 3 inches longer and 2 inches wider (7.2cm and 4.4 cm respectively). I know from my test drive that the new car felt significantly bigger than my memories of my Cayenne, though obviously I was stepping straight from a Macan to the Cayenne.
At one stage, I'd looked at switching from my Macan SD to a new Cayenne but the test drive put me off. I also looked at buying a second hand Cayenne Diesel S but then I had a test drive in a new Macan GTS and the rest, as they say, is history.

Overhaul sounds too dramatic for Porsche.... tweaks maybe
